Video 1: A Challenger Appears!

[The angle when the gear turns on is... strange. Like it’s being held by someone too distracted to pay attention to where it might be pointing. There’s part of a chin, a shoulder, and plenty of scenery. The top of a whitish blob flops past the bottom of the screen. From the sound it makes, it must be a Seel.]

This is really weird. You know that?

[The Seel gives a cheerful affirmative from somewhere. Suddenly, the picture shifts, moving erratically until it stops with a soft thud as the gear is dropped and lands in the grass. At least it has a good view, now, framing most of a boy in his teens, crouching on his toes next to a backpack as he rummages through it, occasionally pulling things out for a closer look. His blue hooded sweatshirt has seen better days, and his pants don’t seem to be from quite the right century. Together with the ice-white hair, it makes something of an odd picture.]

If this is... Naw, it’s way too cutesy to be one of Pitch’s tricks.

[He looks up, past the gear at where the sounds of the Seel are coming from. His smile grows, just a bit.]

You sure you’re not a Selkie?

[A negative. The gear is nudged closer, and he laughs as he reaches for it.]

Okay, okay. Remind me to introduce you to Sandy sometime.

Now what am I supposed to do with it?

[Cue the random pushing of buttons. Electronics-abuse is always the answer, right?]

[It takes a minute, but Jack figures out how to open it. That's... a lot of reading. His shoulders slump, just a bit, but he's already pretty well figured out that people are just trying to help so he should be polite.]

Jack Frost. Nice to meet you. [He's never introduced himself to so many people in his LIFE. Sorry if it sounds a bit absentminded now.]

So I really just wander around, and stuff attacks me, and he- [He gestures towards where his Seel can now be heard snoring.] -does... something about it?

It's nice to meet you, too, Jack! [ She's not familiar with the Jack Frost nipping at your nose fairy tale, not being...human, normally. ]

And that's the gist of it! Are you a trainer or a breeder?

[Eh, it's okay. Even the people who ARE familiar with it never see recognize him, anyway. He's used to it.]

Right, the card thing. It says I'm a trainer. [This grin has no idea what he's doing.] You'd think they'd pick better people for the job.

I'm sure you'll do great! Trainers, then...basically, your goal is - or can be, since you can do whatever you like! - to travel around to the gyms, and challenge the leaders. Gyms are basically big things in each city where people train, and the leader of the gym tends to specialize in a type of pokemon. When you win, they give you a badge, money, and usually some TMs or HMs.

[Well.. really... put that way? Travel, challenging people, winning stuff (and why hadn't anyone mentioned THAT?)... Maybe it's not so bad? He nods slowly, grin spreading into his more usual smile.]

You know, it's still weird, but I think I might like the sound of this place.

It's a nice place! ...At least, I think so. Oh, before I forget - I'll text you the Breeding Centre contact info. They have a newbie deal - one free egg with entry.

[Without the wind, the traveling is going to be a bit slow for his tastes, but at least he's not completely stuck.]

Egg? Right, something I should probably read about, huh?

Ah, yeah! Basically pokemon breed via...having eggs! You can raise them from egghood or from whatever you catch them at in the wild. There are benefits to either option, I think!

Huh... Well, thanks! [He'll just be pushing random buttons to request an egg, of course, but that's half the fun, right?]
