justanexpression | Video 2: Being Human (Action for Cherrygrove City)

[Obviously, someone has been practicing. When the feed kicks on, it's a properly framed picture of one Jack Frost. He's set up camp in the woods fringing Cherrygrove City with a good view of the beach and a frolicking Seel in the background behind him. He also looks more cheerful and less confused than last time.

Oh, and the egg in his lap. That's new, too.]

So, everyone was awesome about answering my questions last time, now I've got more of them.

Cherrygrove is nice. Been here a couple days, now. [He gestures over his shoulder.] You can tell Phil likes it. Kind of got lost on the way here, yeah, yeah, I know it's a straight line, okay, and Phil is about as slow as slow can be, but now that I'm here, I've got this guy. [He pokes at the egg. It's blue and white and people in the know might recognize it as a Pachirisu egg. Jack is not in the know.] Or girl. How do you tell?

For that matter, what do I do with it? Am I supposed to keep it warm? Someone mentioned a deal for new people just showing up, and that's totally me, so I, uh... just kind of hit buttons until I saw something that sounded good, but now I'm thinking that wasn't the best idea?

[He takes a second to glance over his shoulder, probably to make sure his Seel hadn't been eaten by a shark in the last few minutes or anything. If nothing else, this place seems to be teaching him a really strange sense of responsibility. If only Bunny could see him now.

He resettles, placing the gear on the ground in front of him so it can pick up a full body shot, including the sneakers he wasn't wearing before.]

Okay, second question, and... I know how crazy this sounds, but at least some of you weren't human before getting here, right? Pretty sure I've met one already. [Again, unless Thor's parents had some ridiculous delusions of grandeur.] So the question is- how do you stand it? Not the being here, that's turning out pretty cool, but the rest of it. All the getting hungry, and tired, and walking everywhere, not to mention buying stuff. Am I gonna have to get a- [shudder] -job?

You mean like freezing my ass off? Not exactly something I'm grateful for, but hey, we've all got our off days, so I guess I can forgive you.

[He doesn't mind the winter back home (it's not all that different from early spring here, bless you Japan), but in this world? There is only as much snow and cold a person can take, man.]

... Though I guess Christmas is kinda fun.

This! This is what I don't get. Who takes one day of presents over a whole bunch of days with fun and snow and maybe not even having to go to school?

Probably people who enjoy spreading joy and smiles among their family and friends by giving 'em small tokens of appreciation!

Standing on two legs isn't bad for a while. I'm used to standing on four all the time.

Was Phil your starter? He looks a lot friendlier than my starter.

[Not exactly hard to do, considering her starter was a DEMON-EYED FLAMING DEVIL HORSE.]

Guardian of what? I didn't think snow needed much guarding.

I can imagine that he is. [Water types are generally pretty heavy.]

Land Pokémon though... they're better on getting you through to the next city till you get the Fly HM.

They only let me work part-time. I'm used to constant pressure so I don't get Erased.

[He rolls his eyes, but it's an amused sort of gesture, not an OMG ADULTS WHY sort of gesture.]

Not the snow. Kids. Guardians protect all the best things about being a kid, and I'm the Guardian of Fun. Snow ball fights, snow days, that kind of thing.

The one I woke up with? Yeah, that's him. He's totally friendly.

[Jack doesn't like fire pokemon. It's kind of a gut reaction thing. Probably for the best all around he doesn't know her starter, then.]

[Then again, if they ARE in a video game right now...]

[Jack is actually curious. Taking away his powers, sure, fine, he doesn't like it, but it's sort of happened before when he was being stupid and Pitch was being his usual evil self. But actually changing someone's physical shape? That had to be a lot more difficult.]

[Try wearing clothes all the time Jack. Pinkie doesn't understand the concept of humans and clothes. And flowers are still yummy.]

An earth pony, and it's not just me. Some of my friends are unicorns and pegasus. Oh! They're here too! What's wrong with walking and eating? Walking is great and sweets are the best! What were you before?

[You can say many things about him, but definitely not that.]

[Is this a thing he needs to worry about? Cause he's already got plenty of other new things, so evil pokemon? Not at the top of his list.]

A winter spirit. I'm the Guardian of Fun, you know, which is what winter's all about. And I guess nothing's wrong with walking, but you've got pegasus friends, yeah? Would they want to walk all the time?

Only people who don't get that winter is the best possible time of year.

No, not really. Rainbow Dash loves the sky. I suppose that makes sense. I mean--[Her head sinks down just above her chin. With each sentence, her head moves from one side of the screen to the next.] Dash must of been down since her wings are gone. Poor Dash! Stuck on the ground all day! And finding a balloon is hard here!
