justanexpression | Video 2: Being Human (Action for Cherrygrove City)

[Obviously, someone has been practicing. When the feed kicks on, it's a properly framed picture of one Jack Frost. He's set up camp in the woods fringing Cherrygrove City with a good view of the beach and a frolicking Seel in the background behind him. He also looks more cheerful and less confused than last time.

Oh, and the egg in his lap. That's new, too.]

So, everyone was awesome about answering my questions last time, now I've got more of them.

Cherrygrove is nice. Been here a couple days, now. [He gestures over his shoulder.] You can tell Phil likes it. Kind of got lost on the way here, yeah, yeah, I know it's a straight line, okay, and Phil is about as slow as slow can be, but now that I'm here, I've got this guy. [He pokes at the egg. It's blue and white and people in the know might recognize it as a Pachirisu egg. Jack is not in the know.] Or girl. How do you tell?

For that matter, what do I do with it? Am I supposed to keep it warm? Someone mentioned a deal for new people just showing up, and that's totally me, so I, uh... just kind of hit buttons until I saw something that sounded good, but now I'm thinking that wasn't the best idea?

[He takes a second to glance over his shoulder, probably to make sure his Seel hadn't been eaten by a shark in the last few minutes or anything. If nothing else, this place seems to be teaching him a really strange sense of responsibility. If only Bunny could see him now.

He resettles, placing the gear on the ground in front of him so it can pick up a full body shot, including the sneakers he wasn't wearing before.]

Okay, second question, and... I know how crazy this sounds, but at least some of you weren't human before getting here, right? Pretty sure I've met one already. [Again, unless Thor's parents had some ridiculous delusions of grandeur.] So the question is- how do you stand it? Not the being here, that's turning out pretty cool, but the rest of it. All the getting hungry, and tired, and walking everywhere, not to mention buying stuff. Am I gonna have to get a- [shudder] -job?

Working isn't so bad. If you can get through it for a few weeks it's really not that hard to save up for the big things. Battling trainers should at least earn enough to cover food and some supplies, though. [Hey newbie!]

I knew people who weren't human before they came here, but you're kind of the first one that's mentioned not needing to eat and walk. [The tone is a bit amused, though she'd not trying to be rude. She's a bit awed at the idea I suppose you'd say.]

[Hey! He's been here almost a whole week now! That's practically ancient. ~~except that it's totally not~~

It is a pretty cool idea, if Jack does say so himself. He'll totally take the awe. ~~Since he's unlikely to get it anywhere else.~~ He does look a bit sheepish, though.]

Well, I was kind of... dead. Not like 'grr argh' zombies dead- [Of course, he makes the appropriate hand motions to go with the sound effects.] -but... well, yeah, kind of dead. And you can get places SO much faster taking the wind than walking, so why bother?

[Obviously, the HUMANS CAN SEE ME! shock has worn off in the face of more pressing annoyances.]

[PFFT Jack.]

Oh! So you mean, you became a spirit, back home? [ZOMBIES NO COMPUTE, but being a spirit, an immortal being she gets. That's not weird at all.] The walking does take a while to get used to. I mean, I can't fly back home or anything, but my friends and I were pretty used to traveling by sky bison.

Yes! [Give the girl a kewpie doll! Right on the nose!]

...Wait. Sky bison?

[Awww yis! She will gladly take that prize. Also these two should be friends.]

I've only met a few back home, the moon spirit, ocean spirit, a river guardian, and the guardian of knowledge. Is it the same in your world?

[Ahaha, oh how does one describe Appa, exactly?]

Yeah, his name is Appa. They're big, with white and brown fur and six legs. They were the first airbenders, so they could fly.

We... don't have anything like that. Not that I've ever met, at least. There's probably plenty I haven't, though. [But you'd think something like a 'sky bison' would end up getting remembered. Right. She asked him a question.]

Anyway. Spirits. Um, kind of? Cause yeah, there's Manny. Man in the Moon. He's not exactly a spirit, though. More of an alien? I don't really get it all, either. The rest of us... [shrug] We're kind of a mixed group.

Most people seem surprised when we tell them about animals from home, so that doesn't really surprise me. [Not to mention they might just be extinct exceptthey'renot.]

Alien? [Noooot sure she's heard that one before.] Do you mind if I ask what type of spirit you are?

I'm a Guardian. [Oh, yeah, he's still proud of that one. Shh, don't tell anyone that actually knows him.]

Name's Jack Frost. [Although people from places with 'sky bison' probably... won't recognize the name, huh?] I guess you'd say I'm a spirit of winter. Wind, snow, ice, that sort of thing.

So you're a protector? [AS HE SHOULD BE. Also there is some admiration in her tone as she asks that. Mad respect for those who use their abilities to protect others.] It's very nice to meet you, Jack. I'm Katara.

[Man you'd be so popular back home sob]

Really? I'm a waterbender from the South Pole. My powers let me control ice and snow back home.

Yeah? [Talk about kindred spirits, huh? And maybe he's preening just a bit, just on the inside.] I don't usually get to the South Pole. Crossing the equator's too much trouble.
