Video 2: Being Human (Action for Cherrygrove City)

[Obviously, someone has been practicing. When the feed kicks on, it's a properly framed picture of one Jack Frost. He's set up camp in the woods fringing Cherrygrove City with a good view of the beach and a frolicking Seel in the background behind him. He also looks more cheerful and less confused than last time.

Oh, and the egg in his lap. That's new, too.]

So, everyone was awesome about answering my questions last time, now I've got more of them.

Cherrygrove is nice. Been here a couple days, now. [He gestures over his shoulder.] You can tell Phil likes it. Kind of got lost on the way here, yeah, yeah, I know it's a straight line, okay, and Phil is about as slow as slow can be, but now that I'm here, I've got this guy. [He pokes at the egg. It's blue and white and people in the know might recognize it as a Pachirisu egg. Jack is not in the know.] Or girl. How do you tell?

For that matter, what do I do with it? Am I supposed to keep it warm? Someone mentioned a deal for new people just showing up, and that's totally me, so I, uh... just kind of hit buttons until I saw something that sounded good, but now I'm thinking that wasn't the best idea?

[He takes a second to glance over his shoulder, probably to make sure his Seel hadn't been eaten by a shark in the last few minutes or anything. If nothing else, this place seems to be teaching him a really strange sense of responsibility. If only Bunny could see him now.

He resettles, placing the gear on the ground in front of him so it can pick up a full body shot, including the sneakers he wasn't wearing before.]

Okay, second question, and... I know how crazy this sounds, but at least some of you weren't human before getting here, right? Pretty sure I've met one already. [Again, unless Thor's parents had some ridiculous delusions of grandeur.] So the question is- how do you stand it? Not the being here, that's turning out pretty cool, but the rest of it. All the getting hungry, and tired, and walking everywhere, not to mention buying stuff. Am I gonna have to get a- [shudder] -job?

Depends on what you've been before coming here. A pony? A turtle? If it's something like that, then I guess you can have a few extra days.

[Though the comment isn't exactly mean-spirited, Crow smirks when saying that last line. He's heard of the above and more, so he somehow doubts the guy can still surprise him.]

A winter spirit. I only practically invented all the best parts of winter. You're welcome.

[Which, of course, is a complete and utter lie. Unless you consider snow days the best part of winter. He did mostly invent those. The rest of it, Jack, honey, you're a few thousand years too late. But boys will be boys will be stupid. Even immortality can't change that.]

[Crow just shakes his head with a smile.]

You mean like freezing my ass off? Not exactly something I'm grateful for, but hey, we've all got our off days, so I guess I can forgive you.

[He doesn't mind the winter back home (it's not all that different from early spring here, bless you Japan), but in this world? There is only as much snow and cold a person can take, man.]

... Though I guess Christmas is kinda fun.

[... That... might not be his doing, though.]

[On the outside, Jack only rolls his eyes. On the inside, there's a tiny man, flailing about and going AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH]

Christmas isn't mine. That'd be North. Santa Claus. With aaaaaaaall the presents.

Maybe you should've thought of presents, too. More people would like the season!

[Don't mind him, he just likes teasing people.]

[And Jack likes playing pranks on people when they least expect it. JUST YOU WAIT. ~~OR DON'T WAIT, BECAUSE THAT WOULD DEFEAT THE PURPOSE OF 'LEAST EXPECT IT'~~ He throws up his hands.]

This! This is what I don't get. Who takes one day of presents over a whole bunch of days with fun and snow and maybe not even having to go to school?

[TRY HIM, WINTER KID. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.]

Probably people who enjoy spreading joy and smiles among their family and friends by giving 'em small tokens of appreciation!

Either that or a bunch of materialistic assholes, whichever works.

[This is going to end so badly for someone, and it's probably not either one of them.

Crow scoffs at the comment, folding his arms. That "boring" part better not be referring to him, okay.]

Only people who don't get that winter is the best possible time of year.

[SAY THAT AGAIN, GRAY-HEAD. HE DARES YOU.

... And yet, another smug smile spreads across Crow's face.]

C'mon now, you can't possibly believe there's no one in the world who'd be fun!

[GRAY-HEAD?! SAYS THE KID WITH MARKER ALL OVER HIS FACE.

Jack's eyes narrow, but he laughs anyway.]

Naw, but I wouldn't expect someone like you to know any of the cool ones.

[AT LEAST HE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HE STARTED AGING IN HIS TEENS

This time, Crow doesn't look offended and chuckles instead, waggling his finger in front of the screen.]

Wrong again! For your information, Crow the Bullet-sama knows everything there is to know 'bout cool, so if you ask nicely, I might even give you a piece of advice or two!

[... But probably not on modesty.]

[AT LEAST JACK DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HE CAUGHT HIS HEAD ON FIRE.

[They'd both need a dictionary to even find the meaning of the word.]

"Kiddo"? [The duelist lets out a snort. Who the hell does that guy think he is? CROW'S TOTALLY AND ADULT, OKAY.]

[Crow taps the mark on his cheek with his finger, not really bothered by the question. He's kind of used to people pointing those out, more so back home than here -- people from other worlds have turned out to be surprisingly tolerant in that aspect. Or maybe it's just because they don't know the meaning. Either way, the duelist simply shrugs.]

Just a bunch of criminal markers, 's all.
