justanexpression | Video 2: Being Human (Action for Cherrygrove City)

[Obviously, someone has been practicing. When the feed kicks on, it's a properly framed picture of one Jack Frost. He's set up camp in the woods fringing Cherrygrove City with a good view of the beach and a frolicking Seel in the background behind him. He also looks more cheerful and less confused than last time.

Oh, and the egg in his lap. That's new, too.]

So, everyone was awesome about answering my questions last time, now I've got more of them.

Cherrygrove is nice. Been here a couple days, now. [He gestures over his shoulder.] You can tell Phil likes it. Kind of got lost on the way here, yeah, yeah, I know it's a straight line, okay, and Phil is about as slow as slow can be, but now that I'm here, I've got this guy. [He pokes at the egg. It's blue and white and people in the know might recognize it as a Pachirisu egg. Jack is not in the know.] Or girl. How do you tell?

For that matter, what do I do with it? Am I supposed to keep it warm? Someone mentioned a deal for new people just showing up, and that's totally me, so I, uh... just kind of hit buttons until I saw something that sounded good, but now I'm thinking that wasn't the best idea?

[He takes a second to glance over his shoulder, probably to make sure his Seel hadn't been eaten by a shark in the last few minutes or anything. If nothing else, this place seems to be teaching him a really strange sense of responsibility. If only Bunny could see him now.

He resettles, placing the gear on the ground in front of him so it can pick up a full body shot, including the sneakers he wasn't wearing before.]

Okay, second question, and... I know how crazy this sounds, but at least some of you weren't human before getting here, right? Pretty sure I've met one already. [Again, unless Thor's parents had some ridiculous delusions of grandeur.] So the question is- how do you stand it? Not the being here, that's turning out pretty cool, but the rest of it. All the getting hungry, and tired, and walking everywhere, not to mention buying stuff. Am I gonna have to get a- [shudder] -job?

Standing on all fours? What were you before you got here?

[Jack is actually curious. Taking away his powers, sure, fine, he doesn't like it, but it's sort of happened before when he was being stupid and Pitch was being his usual evil self. But actually changing someone's physical shape? That had to be a lot more difficult.]

[Try wearing clothes all the time Jack. Pinkie doesn't understand the concept of humans and clothes. And flowers are still yummy.]

An earth pony, and it's not just me. Some of my friends are unicorns and pegasus. Oh! They're here too! What's wrong with walking and eating? Walking is great and sweets are the best! What were you before?

[Somehow she reminds him of Sophie in a really weird, vague way, and it makes him smile.]

A winter spirit. I'm the Guardian of Fun, you know, which is what winter's all about. And I guess nothing's wrong with walking, but you've got pegasus friends, yeah? Would they want to walk all the time?

No, not really. Rainbow Dash loves the sky. I suppose that makes sense. I mean--[Her head sinks down just above her chin. With each sentence, her head moves from one side of the screen to the next.] Dash must of been down since her wings are gone. Poor Dash! Stuck on the ground all day! And finding a balloon is hard here!

No kidding, winter's always fun! Do you host parties in winter?

[He can't help it. By the end of her little monologue, he's chuckling quietly.] It's like that, yeah. Where I'm from, I can fly whenever I want.

I guess you could say I host parties, yeah. [Snow ball fights are kind of like parties. Not to mention sledding. Sledding can be like a party. Ice skating is definitely a party activity, too.] Ones with lots of games.

Me too! I host parties all the time! Not just winter of course. Everypony in Ponyville would come! I make sure I get all the fun games, and with some surprises here and there.

[She's a pro at ice skating.] That's really neat you could fly. If I wanted to fly, I had to get a lot of balloons to get myself up there!

Maybe we should plan one this winter, then. Wherever gets the most snow.

[Granted, Jack's idea of 'surprises' may or may not match up with Pinkie's, but what's the worst that could happen?]

[Actually, it does. She just likes to use 'surprise'.]

Hmm, more snow definitely. I can't believe we have to wait for winter.

Tell me about it. Back where I'm from, if I want snow... [He snaps his fingers.] Snow.

[Okay, so that's a lie, but who's going to prove him wrong here?]

Or I can at least GO someplace that has snow.
