Video 7: All Fall Down? (Action for Route 33 just outside of Azalea)

[That’s a Gyarados. That’s a Gyarados roaring in what seems to be either amusement or rage as it rolls about on its back, taking out a tree or two here and there in the process. It probably shouldn’t be so hard to tell the difference between those two emotions, but when your only volume setting is ‘loud’, things tend to blend together.

Dingle the Derpados Gyarados finally rights himself, crushing one last tree as he contorts himself into something like a corkscrew shape. As close as a Gyarados can get to one, anyway.

And that... that seems to be an Eevee climbing him. And a second. And that's a third? Eventually, a dozen or so Eevees, Eeveelutions, and assorted cat- and dog-type pokemon (and one very excited Pachirisu who had catapulted herself directly to Dingle’s head the second she had a free shot from the nearest surviving tree) have arrayed themselves wherever they can reach along Dingle’s back.

And then they wait.

The entire scene goes quiet for a long minute until Dingle starts to slowly tip over sideways, sending the various smaller pokemon jumping for cover and squealing, which sets Dingle off making noise, and rolling, and crashing into things, until it all starts over again, with Dingle finding a new, and (to a Gyarados) interesting shape to assume.

The camera doesn’t turn away from the scene right away, but Jack speaks up to make sure his voice will be heard over the chaos. He sounds amused.]

So he used to play a game sort of like that back when he was still a Magikarp, just kind of more floppy and less property-destroying, but I never thought he’d teach it to the others. You think anyone’s gonna get mad?

[Sigh. Okay, so other Jack has hit on the problem. The feed turns around to face a very sheepish Jack Frost instead of the playing pokemon (who at least haven't hit any trees in the last minute or so)]

Okay, so you got me. Maybe I think it's cute. Just a little.

Just...try to be careful? I don't imagine the nature lovers you meet along the trails will think destruction of the forest very cute.

[ Akito can't help but laugh - familiar enough with Dingle that he isn't surprised in the least by his behaviour. Though he is surprised by all of the Eevee. ]

So you like Eevee now, then?

[Anyone who had ever seen or met Dingle as a Derpikarp wouldn't be surprised by his behavior.

And that would be five Eevees and a Flareon, currently.]

They're cute, but they're not mine. I think they all belong to Sho? ...At least all the ones I'm supposed to have belong to Sho.

[Jack just laughs, because he knows all about Akito's... problem, and finds it funny that he's trying to share.]

I dunno. I've got more than I can really work with right now. And I got a couple eggs from that guy who was giving them away a couple days ago, too.

[As a guy with two Gyarados who is currently sitting back against the one's long neck (because the one is kind of flopped, as he does), and as a guy who is actually secretly fond of Magikarps...

...that's kind of cute ._. though destructive]

Ahh, maybe you could find somewhere with a few less trees for him to do that?

[Jack obviously agrees on the cute part, which makes the destructive part even worse.]

Probably should. [He watches for a second longer before sighing.] He's been in his ball a lot lately, and I don't think that's helping. Maybe we need to hit the road again, let him stretch his... uh... scales.

May not be a bad idea. Though, well, even if you don't have the chance, maybe there's a bigger pond nearby or something... The Gyarados I take care of like having plenty of space to swim, anyway.

[There's a strange hesitation there.]

Maybe a pond would be a good place to start.

[Cause if Dingle's still playing THIS game, he might try the water one, too, and Jack's pretty sure he doesn't have anyone big enough on his team to make that work.]

Well, we're just out on the Route. I don't think there are any farms near here or anything. Maybe I should find someone to ask, though.

...And probably get him to stop in the meantime. Shoot.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea just to check before he continues playing.

That way you'll know you're safe for later.

[He chuckles, a little sheepish.]

Yeah, probably shoulda done that first, but he started in the middle of the path. And wasn't quite that... enthusiastic about it, you know?

[But the video is shaking slightly as Jack goes to put a stop to Dingle's game. Temporarily, at least. There's a disappointed Eevee chorus from off screen as he gets closer.]

So that's where they've been.

[Sho didn't mind, not really. Look! Damage and Eevees playing! It's pretty awesome. He chucks a sack lunch at Jack's face and settles down to watch.]

[Which, luckily, Jack catches, even if he does give Sho an unamused look for it. He appreciates the lunch, just not so much the lunch to the FACE.]

Yeah, they looked bored. Figured I'd take 'em on a walk since you've been kind of distracted lately.

[He agrees easily, ignoring the unamused look. Belphe gives him those all the time.]

Thanks for playing with them. Trying to get evolution stones for the 3 little ones.

[You'd think maybe he'd realize there's a reason for that.]

Yeah? What kinds? Pretty sure Dingle has at least one of them convinced they want to be a fishdragon now.

[Or all of them, but they're tiny, and have tiny attention spans, so it'll pass.]

[Well... that's one way to spend the time, he figures. If he wasn't already getting used to pokemon logic, he'd probably protest more. As it is? Well, this is probably normal here.] I imagine the creatures that do perch on those trees would be mad about their homes being destroyed. Then again, I did hear that they tend to repair themselves.

[To be fair, Dingle logic wasn't a good representation of pokemon logic, even. It was just Dingle logic. And Jack has the bad habit of encouraging it.]

Didn't think about that. I'm pretty sure Dingle could take just about anything around here, but some of the Eevees are pretty small yet.

It's mostly just respecting their homes. They'd have to migrate to other trees to rest now, though I suppose they don't leave their eggs nested inside tree trunks here.

I wonder where they do leave their eggs. I've never seen a wild one.

It seems like they move around a lot more than the animals do back home. Not a lot of actual nests or that kind of thing. Not that I've seen.

[There's the soft sound of a Swablu cooing.]
