Video 3: Someone's Got a New Toy

[When the feed turns on, it's immediately obvious that Jack is excited about something. He's practically bouncing, and if he had his powers, he'd definitely be in the air by now. Instead, he has to settle for grinning at the feed.]
Okay. This? This is the best thing ever!
[He turns the gear around to find Phil the Seel looking surprisingly smug for a Seel.]
Okay, Phil. Let's go. Show 'em your new trick.
[Even off-camera, the excitement in Jack's voice is obvious. And contagious, from the sound Phil makes as he shifts to face a large tree that has apparently been used for target practice this morning. As he concentrates, a block of ice starts to form just in front of his horn before he launches it at the tree where it shatters spectacularly. Somebody is learning Ice Shard, apparently.
Jack comes back in the shot with a whoop. You can almost see the gears turning as Jack thinks of all the things he can do with Phil's new talents.]
How awesome is that? He'll be making snowballs in no time.
((OOC: In case you'relame clueless unused to Pokemon like I am, Phil's Ice Shard is similar to the Mamoswine's here. Less powerful, obviously, but he's still learning.))

Date: 2013-05-06 09:59 pm (UTC)So your seal's an ice machine. What's so great about that? There's one of those in the hotel lobby.
Date: 2013-05-06 10:47 pm (UTC)This time.]He's not an ice machine. Well, okay, he is. But he's an awesome ice machine, and since I can't do it here, I can get him to do it for me.
Date: 2013-05-07 09:46 am (UTC)[He gets that look from teenage brats a lot.]
There's nothing wrong with it. It can fill up a cooler for you.
Can't do what here?

But, man - imagine creatin' them during summer! During the massive heat then... that'd sure be nice.
video;
Date: 2013-05-06 11:31 pm (UTC)And that's totally the idea! What if he can learn to do lots of them all at once? Instant snowball fight!

Date: 2013-05-07 02:06 pm (UTC)It's just still pretty weird being stuck here without powers. If Phil's got some of 'em covered, it's not so bad. You know?

Date: 2013-05-07 02:47 pm (UTC)Yeah? That sounds cool. I bet that's cool.

Date: 2013-05-07 02:58 pm (UTC)[Envy bends down and mutters something to the Cubchoo that had been in her lap, who squirms off and toddles toward a nearby tree.]
Alright, hit it!
[With a little noise of confirmation, the Cubchoo unleashes a torrent of snow against the tree... which freezes solid upon its doing so, but leaves a lot of snow laying around it.]
Just... careful what you point it at, I guess.

Date: 2013-05-08 08:06 pm (UTC)That's fantastic, Jack! And before too long, he'll learn even more attacks that you can combine. Or you could have two pokémon use different attacks at once, or more--
[ She cuts herself off before she starts rambling. ]
video!
Date: 2013-05-08 08:22 pm (UTC)Pretty much! Someone else mentioned this attack, Powder Snow, that sounds really cool, and Blizzard! Before you know it, I'll be even better than back home!
[He settles down a little bit, still smiling but with less bouncing.]
But what about you, Tooth? You practically disappeared off the face of the earth. If it weren't for Bunny, I'd have thought you two'd gone home without me.

Date: 2013-05-08 09:42 pm (UTC)Isn't a snowball pretty much an ordinary thing? What's so special about a Pokemon learning to use a move that vaguely resembles one? The furball can do something similar but I wouldn't try to broadcast it to everyone... Nobody would be interested in it.
[The move he's thinking about is just a simple Powder Snow. It'll be a while until Swinub learns Ice Shard.]
Date: 2013-05-08 09:53 pm (UTC)First, a snowball isn't just 'an ordinary thing.' It's a really AMAZING thing. Second, he just learned to do it, so I'm kinda proud.
And third, he's still learning, so it's gonna be even cooler later.

Date: 2013-05-10 01:07 am (UTC)But you get enough of them with enough practice?
[Oh, yeah. Plans upon plans.]
